Musical duo, Manbir Singh (Vocalist) and Inderpreet Singh Minhas (Vocalist), bring you the Indian Classical traditions of the Kasur Patiala Gharana, a musical school founded by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. The young duo is currently under the tutelage of Pandit Shantanu Bhattacharyya who is based in Kolkata, India.
When they are not practicing Indian Classical Music and working full-time jobs - Manbir as an Engineer at The Hills Shire Council and Inderpreet as the Manager of Grace of India Restaurant - the duo volunteer their Saturday mornings to teach Gurbani Kirtan to children and adults of all ages, combining the knowledge of their ancestral musical traditions of Kasur Patiala Gharana with the hymns of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs.
Now as co-founders of the non-profit organisation, Mehfil Arts, Manbir and Inderpreet envision to connect the Indian classical community of Australia with richly curated performances of South Asian arts.
The duo's performance at Parramasala 2017 will embed the core musical style of their Gharana in expressing the chosen Raga's inherent qualities, hoping to create an authentic Indian classical experience of intricate melodies, transcendent rhythms, and a good ol' time.
