South Asian Film In Focus
Parramasala is proud to present a program of independent film from South Asia and the South Asian diaspora which will be a must-see for film buffs and lovers of world movies. This superb collection will reveal the depth, dynamism and creativity of contemporary film making beyond the glitzy world of Bollywood.
Cutting edge, funny, moving, eye-opening and inspirational - the diverse line up of films and documentaries will include many Australian premieres. Each feature will be screened with a short film.
Come to the free Documentary Series and don’t miss our Opening Night film, the Australian premiere of the new Hindi thriller, That Girl In Yellow Boots, which includes a party after the screening.
One of the much anticipated highlights will be a Satyajit Ray Retrospectiveon the afternoon of Saturday 5 November. Ray was a genius film-maker, widely regarded as one of the best artists in the history of cinema. Three films will be screened - Ganashatru: Enemy of People, Aparajito andAgantuk: The Stranger.
Also during the week, a forum on Displacement will bring together a fascinating panel of leading film and art practitioners who will share their stories on the journey they have made from their homeland to another country.
